There are those who only recently figured that out. Tom Hanks, for one, approached him at an award ceremony and was excited to realize he was alive and kickin’.
He is featured in Paul Williams Still Alive, a documentary that premiered at the Toronto film festival over the weekend. The film reveals that drugs, alcohol and the singer-songwriter’s own cockiness caused him to go into decline until he became sober in 1990 and stayed that way. Fans of his music will be excited to know that he recorded a brand new song for the end credits of the film.
Paul is currently the President of The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. He also works as an addiction advocate.
