Take a look at the trailer for MTV’s remake of the 1984 classic Footloose. Good: [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Julianne Hough[/lastfm], daisy dukes, some cool dance moves. Bad:Everything else.
Must Hollyweird (or MTV) completely destroy every good 80’s movie? Geez. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Julianne Hough[/lastfm] from“Dancing With The Stars” and newcomer Kenny Wormald have the starring roles of Ren and Ariel, made famous by Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer in the original. Dennis Quaid plays the role of Ariel’s dance hating preacher Daddy that John Lithgow rocked in ’84.
I’m not a fan of remakes anyway, but Footloose is one of my sacred cows, along with ‘Ferris Bueller’ and ‘Uncle Buck’ that you don not ever remake! Going by the trailer, I did see some cool dancing, and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Juilanne Hough[/lastfm] in daisy dukes, woof! Other than that…well, there is one thing that they totally changed from the original that I won’t give away, but you’ll see it in the trailer. Let’s just say they don’t race tractors this time around.
Check out the original 1984 Footloose trailer, plus the trailer for the new Footloose, due in October. One thing I’ve noticed: Movie trailers are a lot better now than they were in 1984. But movies themselves are worse!
