[photogallerylink id=69094 align=right] [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Earth, Wind & Fire[/lastfm]’s Ralph Johnson is busy promoting the EW&F tour including the upcoming June 22 concert at DTE Energy Music Theatre! He had a lot to talk about with Jim Johnson, everything from making good eggs benedict to presidential concerts.

Johnson also shared his musical influences, “Motown was influential when you consider that it was the music of the day so it had to have some influence, you know, that along with James Brown and of course you had the Memphis sound with Stax so all of it played into what we were trying to do, along with the jazz influences.”

When asked about his favorite Motown act Johnson replied, “I’ll tell you the Temps and the Tops are two of my favorites. I had the chance to produce an album on the Temps in ’83 and out of that came a single entitled “Treat Her Like A Lady.” Four Tops, I always thought Levi Stubbs had one of the greatest lead voices in all of the Motown acts so I’m kind of a Tops and Temps fan.”
