Bob Seger: Show Number One!

[photogallerylink id=65742 align=right] Bob Seger said he had a cold and was doing the best he could, adding “Do you feel funky tonight?” 16,000 of us stood on our feet and fists pumping in the air affirmed that we did! [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band[/lastfm] rocked the Palace of Auburn Hills, with the first of three shows tonight. “I hope he keeps touring! It was electric!” exclaimed Mary who travelled from Livonia to dance in the aisles and sing along with the Seger catalogue. That was a key question from many fans: is this the last time to see Seger?

Personally, it’s hard for me to believe he had more energy when he was in his 20s – his hair may be silver, but his performance was strong, confident and fun. Also high marks for Chris Campbell (his rhythm carried Beautiful Loser) and Alto Reed (love me some wailing sax on Turn The Page). I loved the song selection – we got a taste of everything, even a gem from the Night Moves album, Come To Poppa (nice choreography from the horn section) and Real At The Time from 1992 which he’s performing for the first time in “a million years.” Plus, my son Asher, conditioned to seeing pyrotechnics and projection screens from the VH1 concert videos of 80s rockers had this to say after witnessing his first live concert: “It was just about the music, Dad.” Indeed.
