The legendary [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Neil Diamond[/lastfm] started his career while taking pre-med classes at NYU when he took a job writing songs for $50 a week at the Brill Building.

He first found success as a songwriter with “Sunday and Me” written for [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jay and the Americans[/lastfm] in 1965. Some of his other songs, such as “I’m a Believer” and “A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You” were made popular by the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Monkees[/lastfm], but he had written and recorded those songs for himself even though the covers were released first.
