Why is it earlier every year!?
It’s supposed to celebrate the 4th of July & July 1st. WHY is it always in JUNE!
Should be on Friday July 1 OR Mondy July 4th.

Why cant the fireworks be on a weekend closet to the dates because a lot of us would like to go but cant because we work and some of our jobs have people depending on us being there…because we might be the only face they see for the day…

It is NOT earlier every year. I have gone for the past 3 years, and it is always the last Monday in June. It is the finale for River Days, and a prelogue of the 4th of July fireworks. What sense would it make to have these fireworks the same time as July 4th?

I agree. I’m always missing the fireworks because I work midnights all week long. I wish this could be a weekend event. However, I’m sure there’s some concern about how many people show up on the weekends. Having it during the week ensures numbers will stay down. But, then, what’s the point of the fireworks if the event is designed to exclude hard-working individuals that deserve attending something like this?

The fireworks event makes me wish I was on welfare so I didn’t have anything to do all week, and I could go watch. 😦

    1. Don says:

Not everyone works midnights or 3rd shift. And there is NO concern about how many people would show up if it was on a weekend. I have attended for the past 3 years, and the attendance on a Monday night is staggering! They can’t please everyone; people have other plans on weekends, and Mondays work best for most people. If you want to see them so badly, take the day off or get a day job!

so then why do I hear them tonight? it is june 25th.
is that just the practice round (BARRAGE) ??? — or what???

  4. Mari-Lynn says:

The fireworks have always been during the week it use to be the last Wed of June. They do this because of the large amount of people that attend and they can’t not police enough as it is and if they had them on a weekend numbers would nearly triple.

It should be on Friday July 1st or Thursday June 30th!! It doesn’t make any sense to set up a date in the middle of a week. We normally drive to hours back and forth to see the fireworks.
