Young’s 2009 album, Fork In The Road, was loosely based on the Continental which he had converted into a hybrid vehicle. The car was rebuilt to run on batteries and fitted with a biodiesel-powered generator.  The LincVolt project was part of Young’s vision to create the world’s most efficient full-size vehicle.

Young stated that there is hope the car’s computer will reveal what caused the fire.

Accorording to MercuryNews damaged items total $850,000 and structural damages are estimated at $250,000.  Still, Young expressed his thanks to the fire department, saying “a lot of archival items were threatened and the fire department did a first-class job protecting them.”

Poor Neil Young, we all know he loved that car!
