First Ford announced it was spending 850-million to upgrade production facilities in Michigan, much of it in Sterling Heights.  Now Chrysler says it’s also going to spend 850-million dollars in Macomb County.

Chrysler says it plans to upgrade its Body Shop in Sterling Heights.  The company also is going to add a paint shop.

The price tag on this good news for Macomb  County is 850-million dollars.  Hopefully this will create an additional 900 jobs for a second shift at the plant by as early as February.

Chrysler previously announced that it was spending 150-million dollars in Dundee to increase production at the plant that builds small 4 cylinder engines for the new Fiat 500 subcompact.
