The night of Thursday, August 12 thru Friday, August 13, 2010 marks the peak of the Perseid meteor shower.

Pending a clear sky the meteor shower should be highly visible with the two-day old moon being only a tiny sliver in the sky. The display will peak with roughly one hundred streaks of meteor light visible across the sky per hour. The best time to view the meteors in the Eastern Time Zone is early in the night but the shower will be visible in the hours and even the days before and after the predicted peak of activity.
