Baskin-Robbins has announced that it plans to retire 5 of its ice cream flavors which includes French Vanilla. It’s been a signature flavor since Irv Robbins and Burt Baskin opened their first store in 1945. (they are probably rolling in their graves!) The other flavors that are getting the boot are Superfudge Truffle, Caramel Praline, Campfire S’mores, and Apple Pie a La Mode. But why French Vanilla? Even if it’s not a top seller, it seems like it would be a sin in the ice cream world. No other flavor compliments apple pie, chocolate cake and cream puffs like this classic does. Imagine flavors like key lime pie or bubble gum on top of any of these. How about retiring one of these flavors instead? There will be fans of this flavor who will not have heard the news. They will be stunned when the 31 Flavors server tells them it is no longer available. They’re reaction will be “Huh? What? No French Vanilla? Seriously?” French Vanilla happens to be the number one searched flavor of ice cream on Yahoo!. I think Baskin Robbins should rethink this decision. If they do, I’ll be dancing to “The Ice Cream Freeze” by Hannah Montana! To check out this catchy tune and fun dance Click More.
