Dozens and dozens of sailboats are preparing for one of the greatest fresh water sails in the world — the annual Port Huron to Mackinac race. Today final preparations are being made for the race and the boats shove off tomorrow morning.
Most entries are from Michigan but several sailors have come here from other states to compete. And by far, the most distant racer this year is a boat and crew all the way from Hong Kong.
We should explain that the official title of the event is the Pure Michigan Bayview Mackinac Race. But what the heck, we’ve known it as the Port Huron to Mackinac Race for a long time.
The Bluewater Fest is popular for boaters and non-boaters in Port Huron. It continues today and tomorrow.
