Residents of several Southeast Michigan communities reported feeling an earthquake this afternoon.

Reports have been called into our sister station at WWJ Newsradio 950.  Callers reported feeling an earthquake in Rochester Hills, Auburn Hills, Harrison Township and Livonia, just to name a few cities.  The U.S. Office  of Geological Survey reported a 5.0 magnitude earthquake occurred 31 miles north of Cumberland, Canada. The USGS in Lansing confirmed that an earthquake signal occurred at Michigan State University.

    i felt a earthquake at around 2pm i was just sitting down on the couch and all the sudden the couch started shaking a little i looked around my plants were moving to i was shocked and going crazy cause this is the first time i felt it in michigan. i am located in northville, mi

    We felt it in Troy too. You could feel the floor moving for a good 30 seconds.

    I am writing from downtown Ottawa, ON. The earthquake was centered in the nearby city of Buckingham, Québec (Québec-Ontario border) and was a magnitude of 5.5.

    it was 2:45 when i felt it i was layin on my bed on the phone and my bed was shakin for a good 40 sec here in southwest detroit
