starship Starship Starring Mickey Thomas To Perform

Metro Detroiters looking for a weekend road trip will be happy to know that Starship Starring Mickey Thomas will perform this Friday, May 7 at 8pm as part of Holland’s Tulip Time Festival.

The Grand Rapids Press caught up with the former vocalist of [lastfm]Jefferson Starship[/lastfm], Mickey Thomas, who explained what to expect at the concert.

Thomas, calling from his Palm Springs, aka “Palm Desert,” Calif., home, is still going strong, performing an average of 70 to 90 shows a year with the group, which also is producing a new album.

“Oh yeah, we do all the hits. I try to cover all the bases of everything that I’ve had a hand in creating over the last 30 years with Starship. And then we even go back a little further than that. I include ‘Fooled Around and Fell in Love,” he said of his hit in ’76 with the Elvin Bishop band.

Expect to hear everything from “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” and “It’s Not Over Till It’s Over” to “Find Your Way Back,” “Knee Deep in the Hoopla,” “Sara” and “We Built This City.”
